Purpose

John 13:3  Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God.

This verse talks about Jesus receiving all things from God but this verse has another truth hidden in it.  It says:  "And that He had come from God." First Jesus has His provision given to Him from His Father thats an important truth but the second truth we see is God gives Jesus His purpose as well. Where did Jesus come from? God.  The purpose of Jesus being the Savior and becoming man was the plan of our triune God.  God purposed that and all three parts of the Godhead were a part of bringing Jesus into the world as a man.  He came from God.  What about you?  Where do you come from? Who created you? The answer is the same.  God.

Do you believe that? There are those who might say, "my mom and dad, they got married and conceived me, and that's really where I come from," or is there really a way to know what our purpose on earth is? these questions always lead to the same place:  Where did I come from? What started it all? It gets confusing if you do not believe that God is the creator.  You are probably lost if you believe that the start of humanity if result of something random or change.  God teaches that He created all things. He created you. You and I come from Him. Let me tell you, one of the biggest problems people have today is a lack of purpose. What are they here for? People get lost in their meaningless lives and feel there is no point. What is the point?  It is possible to feel that God has done so much bad in your life and there's no point?  Questions arise about life and meaning and if it even matters?  We look at our circumstances and our choices and consequences and forget our true origins.  Please know you come from an all knowing, all powerful, all loving God who sent you here, who made you and who gives you purpose.  Maybe it is time to seek this amazing and awesome God who gives purpose to all His creation and see what He has for you.

Ephesians 2:10 says, "“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

Look at that again: He created your purpose before you were ever here. If you have Jesus then you are His workmanship, You are His piece of art, Did you hear that:  God's artwork is you.  The God I know is pretty creative and makes amazing things. The fact that you are created in Christ Jesus to do His good works, to affect other people means you have a great purpose. I can't think of anything that humbles me like the understanding that I come from God.  My great God provides for me and I come from Him and get my purpose from Him. What else can bring true humility to someone then these facts?  Also please understand that not believing and understanding these truths bring pride. If I am in charge of providing for myself, and I create my own purpose based on what I want, then I am focusing my life on pride. Isn't that exactly what pride is?  Pride: a high or inordinate opinion of one's own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether as cherished in the mind or as displayed in bearing, conduct, etc.
